If you are hearing scratching in the walls or attic you may want to have a home inspection to identify the problem. We service several areas for animals in the attic. Our live attic pest exclusions are different than most wildlife control companies. We use a one-way door method and wildlife prevention to solve problems with wildlife in your attic. Here are some of the animals and birds you will encounter in the attic.
What Animals Make Noise in the Attic?
Squirrels in the Attic
When you hear jumping around, rolling of nuts, and fast running you are hearing squirrels. Also when squirrels are preparing their nest you will hear constant digging and clawing at your ceiling. Squirrels will multiply fast so it is important to get rid of your squirrel problem before it becomes a larger one.
Mice in the Attic
Mice tend to use your insulation for nesting. If you look in your attic and see half dollar size holes throughout your insulation, typically you will find a nest of mice. Mice's sounds are more of a light scratching and quiet running. Consider the poison-free method to solve your mice problem.
Birds in the Attic
Birds will claw at your ceiling and sometimes fall into a wall cavity. Wings flapping loudly and clawing are what you will hear the most. Sometimes you will hear chirping from younger birds. We have also found birds making noises in between the flue of the chimney and the casing. Birds will create a large nest.
Raccoons in the Attic
Sound like someone broke into your attic? That's a raccoon running across your attic. Raccoons will tear up your insulation to create bedding. In doing so they damage your insulation. They scratch and thump on your drywall.
Bats in the Attic
Bats sound a lot like mice scratching. You will generally hear bats late at night and really early in the morning. Sometimes you will hear a lite flapping of their wings if the bats are trying to move through insulation. Bats will also make a chirping noise which is high pitched.
